Thursday’s release of the U.S. Drought Monitor showed minimal dry conditions in Georgia and Alabama, while Florida is mostly abnormally dry or moderately dry.

In Alabama, the only abnormally dry area is located in the southern half of Houston County.

In Georgia, the dry conditions are located mostly in the southeast area of the state. The abnormally dry conditions start in Brooks County and expands eastward to McIntosh and Liberty counties. Moderate dry conditions are isolated to Echols, Clinch, Ware, Charlton and Camden counties.

Most of Florida’s moderate dry conditions are located in the northern part of the state. They start as far west as Taylor and Madison counties, stretch eastward to Nassau and Duval counties and southward to Citrus, Sumter, Lake and Volusia counties. A moderate drought is also observed in southern Florida in Lee, Hendry and Collier counties.

South Carolina is completely drought free. Abnormally dry conditions are isolated to the southeastern area of North Carolina, starting in Brunswick County and stretching northward to Beaufort and Martin counties.
