Florida’s drought conditions are now mostly isolated to the southern part of the state, while Georgia is still experiencing moderately dry conditions in the central and southern regions. This is according to Thursday’s release of the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Recent rainfall helped alleviate some of the drought conditions in North Florida, though abnormally dry conditions are still being felt in the Panhandle, from Escambia County to Holmes and Washington counties. However, moderately dry conditions are observed as far south as Pinellas County, stretching southward to Collier County, where an area is severely dry. Moderate drought conditions stretch as far east as Palm Beach County.

Most of central and southeast Georgia are either abnormally dry or moderately dry. The conditions are worst along the Atlantic Coast as far south as McIntosh County stretching northward to Screven County, Richmond County and Columbia County.

Only a few areas in Alabama are abnormally dry, including the southern regions of Mobile and Baldwin counties along the Gulf of Mexico. Southeastern counties along the Alabama-Georgia line, including Houston, Henry, Barbour and Russell are abnormally dry.

Moderately dry conditions are experienced along the eastern region of South Carolina, from Jasper County to Horry County.

Moderate drought and severe drought conditions are isolated to the eastern area of North Carolina.
