The Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association (FFVA) kicked off its annual convention today in Amelia Island, Florida.

Representative Jake Raburn gave a state of the industry address at the convention. He said the state of the industry is more about the state of Irma. Raburn has been assessing the damage and devastation to the industry caused by Hurricane Irma and said he came away from those assessments with an overarching message: “There is definitely a future for our industry. As we’ve done in the past with previous challenges, our industry will rebuild,” he said.

Raburn added that there is still a lot of work to be done following the hurricane. He urged members of the FFVA to reach out to members of Congress to ensure that the industry receives the federal government relief package that it needs to recover.

Raburn is very optimistic that the future of Florida agriculture is bright. “As always with all challenges, Florida agriculture is and will be as strong as ever,” he concluded.
