The Florida Specialty Crop Foundation is hosting its 43rd annual Labor Relations Forum. According to Mike Carlton, Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association’s (FFVA) labor relations director, the forum was originally created to help growers comply with labor regulations, and 43 years later, the forum still has the same goal in mind.
Growers and contractors must comply with a myriad of regulations when it comes to agricultural labor. “This is a very heavily regulated group,” Carlton says. Due to the high number of regulations, the forum covers several labor issues. Topics this year include labor investigations, workers’ compensation, I-9 issues and H-2A program concerns.
The Labor Relations Forum will take place September 13–15 at the Double Tree Hilton in Orlando, Florida at SeaWorld. The registration fee is $195 by check or $200 by credit card. The forum is open to all growers. For more information, contact the FFVA.
