GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Organic Growers and University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) are hosting a free Organic Spinach Production System workshop in Citra.
When: Thursday, February 9
Time: 1 to 4 p.m.
Location: University of Florida Plant Science Research and Education, Unit 2556, West Highway 318, Citra
The workshop will cover topics including organic spinach production challenges, nutrient management using compost and organic fertilizer, growing spinach under high tunnels, fall and spring production comparisons, microbial loads and postharvest decay and postharvest handling and storage.
This joint Kansas State University-University of Florida research and Extension project is supported by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Agriculture and Food Research Initiative Food Security Competitive Grants Program (Award # 2014-68004-21824).
