Abnormally dry conditions persist in various areas in Georgia, while north Alabama remains abnormally dry as well. Only a couple of counties in Florida are abnormally dry, according to Thursday’s release of the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Northwest Georgia and southwest Georgia are abnormally dry. There is also a small portion of Calhoun, Dougherty, Baker and Terrell counties in the southwestern part of the state that are moderately dry. Dry conditions stretch to the Georgia-Florida state line and Georgia-Alabama state line in southwest Georgia. Counties along the Georgia-Tennessee state line and Georgia-North Carolina state line are also abnormally dry.
Some counties in the west and northwest regions of Alabama are moderately dry. These include Pickens, Lamar, Fayette and Marion counties along the Alabama-Mississippi state line and in Colbert, Lauderdale, Limestone, Madison and Jackson counties in north Alabama.
A few counties in northeast Florida are abnormally dry. These include Putnam, Clay, Bradford, Duval and Saint Johns counties. Orange, Osceola and Brevard counties in central Florida are abnormally dry as well.
Various counties in South Carolina, mostly in the western region of the state, are abnormally dry. The western area of North Carolina remains either abnormally dry or moderately dry.
