New Technology Helping Growers Save Water

Josh McGill Water

kelly-morganNew technology is being tested by several farmers in the Southeast to see if this technology can help to conserve water. The technology allows farmers to access soil-moisture readings right from their phones, with updates every three hours. This technology is being developed in a joint effort between the University of Georgia and the University of Florida. They are utilizing information from the Florida Automated Weather Network and the Georgia Automated Weather Network. Kelley Morgan, professor of soil and water science with the University of Florida/IFAS, explains how this works.
