The 67th annual Produce Marketing Association’s (PMA) Fresh Summit Convention and Expo was one for the books, literally. The event, held in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, had a record attendance of 20,889 attendees from over 65 countries. More than 12,000 exhibiting companies showcased new products, trends, technologies and innovations at the event.
If you follow Southeast AgNet on Twitter, you would have seen the live-action social media at work from the Fresh Summit. The hashtag #FreshSummit was actually a top trending topic on Twitter during the event. To view our Twitter account, click here.
Along with the expo, the Fresh Summit had a plethora of educational sessions for attendees. The sessions taught effective marketing strategies, food safety, new technologies and much more. The sessions were categorized by special interests, which was beneficial to attendees because the material was tailored to their specific interests.
The dates and location have been announced for the 2017 PMA Fresh Summit. The convention and expo will be held on October 19–21, 2017, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Please note the change in schedule for next year. Due to requests, the event has been shifted to Thursday through Saturday instead of Friday through Sunday to allow for more flexible travel time.
We spoke with PMA President Cathy Burns on how this year’s Fresh Summit went, and what the PMA is already looking at in the future.
